The Chemistry Department, Faculty of Science, Cairo University is the oldest chemistry department in the Arab world with its largest faculty and student number. It was established at 1925 within the faculty of science of the Egyptian University, which eventually became the contemporary Cairo University.

The Department of chemistry has reputable and well-established schools in Organic, Physical, Analytical, Inorganic and Biochemistry. The experiences of its faculty body acquired globally through Ph.D. degrees, postdoctoral fellowships and/or training courses from a great number of respectful universities all over the world.
